Job Description

We are looking for a Surveyor to conduct architectural surveys and evaluations of buildings, bridges, and cemeteries in Indiana . * This position will be a * full-time contract and onsite.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct architectural field surveys in central Indiana

  • Systematically document and evaluate structures that are at least 40 years old

  • Participate in several days of training in Indianapolis before beginning fieldwork

  • Work primarily outdoors with some opportunities for indoor research and writing

  • Submit work to the survey coordinator multiple times per week to ensure standards are met

  • Maintain necessary data for mileage reimbursements and timesheets

  • Handle equipment responsibly and communicate effectively with the public and team

What You'll Need

Required:

  • Reliable vehicle and valid driver's license

  • Ability to navigate rural and urban terrains in all weather conditions

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and digital photography

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Self-motivation and ability to work independently

  • Flexibility and adaptability to diverse work environments and weather conditions

  • Experience conducting research and summarizing data

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in historic preservation or architectural history

  • Experience with architectural surveys and evaluations

Physical Demands

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards

  • Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.

  • Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor

  • Operation of a motor vehicle and ability to drive short and long distances in various weather and light conditions

  • Frequent walking, standing, and climbing stairs, as well as traversing uneven ground

  • Ability to carry equipment, including tablet computers, chargers, and other items (approximately 20 lbs. or less)

The pay rate for this position is $17.05 per hour (USD). Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 401k retirement account access. Employees in this role may also be entitled to paid sick leave as provided by applicable law.?
