Operational Buyer/Planner

The Operational Buyer is responsible for managing day-to-day procurement activities within the medical device supply chain, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials required for production. Working closely with the Material Group Manager, the Operational Buyer plays a critical role in maintaining the flow of materials and services that meet the company’s operational and production needs, while ensuring compliance with stringent regulatory standards. This position requires a strong understanding of supply chain management, procurement operations, inventory control, and supplier relationships in the context of a regulated medical device manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage purchase orders from generation through delivery, ensuring alignment with production schedules and material requirements
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while monitoring performance, negotiating terms, and resolving procurement issues
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Production, Quality, Logistics) to forecast material needs and ensure timely availability
  • Monitor inventory levels, usage patterns, and lead times to optimize stock levels and reduce material shortages or excess
  • Support procurement compliance by ensuring contracts and sourcing activities meet company policies and regulatory standards
  • Drive operational efficiency by contributing to cost-saving initiatives, continuous process improvements, and supplier evaluations
  • Provide clear, regular communication to internal stakeholders on material availability, supplier performance, and procurement metrics

More about you:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, SCM or related field

Work Experience

  • 3-5 years of Procurement and/or relevant Supply Chain experience within a cross-functional environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in the medical device industry (Class II or III)

Professional Competencies

  • Knowledge of Procurement and Supply Chain principles and concepts
  • Ability to read and interpret product specifications and BOMs

Nice to Have

  • CIPS, CPSM

Language(s)/ Level

  • English/ Proficient

IT Skills Strong computer skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel), SAP or other ERP systems

Nice to Have

  • SAP and PLM knowledge strongly desired

A minimum of 200Mb/sec download and 10Mb/sec upload speed internet connectivity is required to support any remote/hybrid employee functionality at Sonova

This role's pay range is between $75,200/yr - $94,000/yr (based on location). This role is also eligible for bonus.
