Farm Hand

Farm Hands are our agricultural apprentices, getting their hands dirty while supporting our farmers in everything from planting to packaging to keeping our farm sparkling clean. This role is ideal for individuals who believe a good day's work involves equal parts sunshine, soil, and satisfaction from seeing plants thrive under their care.

Requirements:

• Able to follow written and verbal instructions
• Basic math and measurement skills
• Comfortable working in cold environments (down to 34°F)
• Comfortable performing repetitive tasks
• English required
• Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds
• Ability to be on your feet for 8+ hours
• At least 18 years old
• Expected time commitment of 30 hours per week

Responsibilities:

• Assembling and packing our weekly harvests for our neighbors
• Maintaining a clean and sanitary work and farm area, adhering to the highest standards of workplace and food safety
• Cleaning facilities, tools and equipment throughout the week
• Assisting in the daily care of our plants through tasks such as seeding, transplanting, watering, compost mixing and soil preparation
• Assist in task management for part-time seasonal employees
• Ensuring all core tasks have been completed at the end of each work day
• Following standard operating procedures in a collaborative team environment

Work Environment:

• Fast-paced environment with productivity goals
• Exposure to farm equipment and tools
• Regular interaction with soil and compost
• Rotating shifts including weekends

Advancement Opportunities:

We want to see our people thrive as much as our plants. With demonstrated success as a Farm Hand this role can progress into a more advanced Farmer role with increased responsibilities and specializations around crop types, systems maintenance, soil management, record-keeping, etc. 

Benefits:

• You will be eligible for a pay increase every 1040 hours or six (6) months. 
• 6 paid holidays
• Weekend shifts include an extra $1 per hour. 
• You will receive an Area 2 Farms harvest weekly.
