Winner Butcher is a neighborhood butcher shop located in Brooklyn, NY. We are dedicated to offering high-quality meats, house-made sausages, and prepared foods while creating a warm, welcoming environment for both customers and staff. About the Role:
We’re looking for a friendly and motivated person to join our team as our newest Butcher Apprentice. This entry-level role is ideal for someone passionate about food and interested in learning the fundamentals of butchery. You will work closely with our skilled butchers, assisting with customer service, retail operations, and hands-on meat handling and preparation. No prior butchery experience is required—we are happy to train the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide excellent customer service at the meat counter and register
• Handle and package raw meats for retail sale (including beef, pork, lamb, and poultry)
• Assist in basic meat preparation and learn introductory meat-cutting techniques
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the meat counter and prep area
• Stock shelves and fresh case with retail and prepared products
• Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines
• Support other team members with daily tasks and shop operations

What You’ll Learn:

• Fundamentals of butchery and meat cuts
• Safe handling and sanitation practices
• Knife skills and cutting techniques
• The ins and outs of running a professional butcher shop

Qualifications:

• Enthusiasm for food, customer service, and learning a new craft
• Friendly, reliable, and team-oriented
• Comfortable working with raw meat and using knives (training provided)
• Able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
  Prior retail or kitchen experience a plus, but not required
